Your Story – Age 14

In November, I had the privilege of sharing my testimony at church. I thought, as I reflect on everything God has done for me in 2012, that I’d share it with you here over the next few days.

You’re 14. You’ve got enormous glasses that slide down your oily nose. You spray your bangs to huge heights, because that’s how everyone’s wearing them. You have your first boyfriend. Finally, there’s someone waiting by your locker, holding your hand as you walk down the hall. You’ve got what everyone else has. You have no idea yet that this boy, because of his own fears and broken heart, will completely stomp on yours. You don’t know that you’ll break up and get back together three times in the next four years, and that the wounds you get during those days will take decades to heal. This is what your heart wants, to be wanted, to be like the other girls, and yet – part of you knows. This isn’t how it’s supposed to be.
