Get Fit or Die Tryin’ – Downright Biblical

Check these bad boys out:

“I’m sexy and I know it.” (That’s my shoes talking. Not me.)

They look seriously bad a**, right? They’re totally going to revolutionize my run, right?

Nope. Sadly, I still run like me. An even slower version of me than last week’s.

But still – I strapped on my cool new shoes and went running last night. Stuck with the same three minute walk, three minute run schedule, and tried to keep my pace about the same. Turns out the new shoes made me run even slower.

But it’s not all the shoes’ fault. (Like how I did that there? Blaming inanimate objects for only a portion of my performance?) I was dehydrated, I’d eaten lots of garbage that day, and was just all around feeling bleech. But I powered through anyway, which is the point right?

And I’m placing some of the blame on the absolute SWARMS of bugs that attacked me on the middle two-thirds of my run. Those little black gnat-type things were everywhere, and I kept swatting them away. After my run, I found their little carcasses EVERYWHERE – on  my shirt, on my pants, INSIDE my shirt, stuck to my sweaty shoulders inside my shirt… BLEEECH. I started looking around for rivers of blood and swarms of frogs and any other type of Biblical plague. It was GROSS. I’m hoping they’ll be gone soon as the weather cools. I thought about getting up to run early tomorrow to avoid them – but again, let’s not get crazy here.

Another run tomorrow – and I’ll be remembering this piece of wisdom from my fit friend Jess’ Facebook page:

Even when I feel like garbage, I’m not going to quit. And that’s all there is to it.

  1. I always tell myself that bad days are followed by good days and vice versa. Just accept them, they happen, you are still out there doing it. Don’t let them get you down ever. Even on the days that you just ran a decent 8 miler and then a day off followed by a 3 miler you could barely finish – it happens. You just strap those shoes back on and hope tomorrow is a better run. I know you know this, I just like reminding myself ;o).
